ABOUT THE GUESTS

Susan Forscher Weiss, Professor of Musicology at the Peabody Conservatory of Music, holds a joint appointment in the Department of Modern Languages and Literature at the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences of Johns Hopkins University.  In Fall 2014 she was the Robert Lehman Professor at the Harvard Center for Renaissance Studies at Villa i Tatti; in Spring 2019, she was a Visiting Professor at Princeton University. Among her numerous publications are Bologna Q 18: An Introduction and Facsimile Edition (1999), Music Education in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance (2010 with Russell E. Murray, Jr. and Cynthia J. Cyrus) and in 2016  A Cole Porter Companion (with Don M. Randel, and Matthew Shaftel). Her current research focuses on images, memory, pedagogy, organology, history of musical theater and non-Western contributions to music.

A Juilliard-trained violinist, Lynn Siebert earned her BA magna cum laude from Vassar College, MA (Musicology) from Rutgers, Ph.D. (Music/Musicology) from CUNY Graduate Center and studied (Theory/Harmony and Composition) with Nadia Boulanger at the Écoles d'Art Américaines (Fontainebleau, France). After three decades as a university music professor, she currently serves as Director of Arts Participation & Communications at Morris Arts, programming and publicizing arts events and exhibits in Morris County, NJ. Author of a two-volume study on the music of Cole Porter (1974), she authored the Kiss Me, Kate chapter in The Cole Porter Companion (2016) and the essay on the original cast recording of Kiss Me, Kate for the Library of Congress' National Recording Registry (2018-19). 

Scott Siegel has created more than 400 major concerts that have been performed all over the world. He has written/produced/directed concerts for Michael Feinstein, created scores of nightclub acts that have played at major clubs around the globe, but is, perhaps, best known as the creator/writer/director/host of Town Hall's signature series, Broadway by the Year®, which is currently celebrating its 20th critically acclaimed season. ABOUT CENTURY OF STORY AND SONG

The Town Hall brings its history to the public with a series of conversations about the landmark institution’s history. Founded by suffragists, the League for Political Education built The Town Hall. The hall has been a home to adult education, a forum for civic engagement, and a storied musical venue. During this unique and trying time, The Town Hall brings its audience Town Hall please help with a name Series.

The structure of the program is a conversation with the featured guest followed by a live question and answer. The conversations will include images and video, and selected questions from the live audience will appear at the bottom of the live video for all participants to see.
