This summer tens of thousands of Malians took to the street demanding the resignation of President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta while leaders from the region attempted to reconcile the government with its opposition. On August 18th, members of the Malian armed forces staged a coup that resulted in the arrest and resignation of President Keïta and Prime Minister Boubou Cissé.

The Town Hall presents a teach-in with scholars and educators on the ground who will contextualize and provide insight on the protests, the coup and the current restructuring of the government.
