Swedish indie-folk singer-songwriter José González has been an enduring force in the American music scene beginning with the release of his 2003 debut album, Veneer, featuring a bewitching hit cover of The Knife's "Heartbeats". Since then, he's released three more LPs and dozens of singles, including the genre-defining "Far Away" from the Red Dead Redemption soundtrack. His newest film project, A Tiger in Paradise, is presented as a combination movie screening and live performance tour. Tiger is a dreamlike 75 minute journey into González's creative mind, narrated by the artist himself through the recitation of song lyrics, journal entries, and anecdotes of conflict and doubt from along the road to success. Following the documentary, González will offer intimate insight into his world of ideas and a full-length concert of some of his most popular songs. “I allowed myself to loop guitars as I aim to do live with pedals,” González says, “and in my head I was hearing how each track would fit with an orchestra (The String Theory) or my five-piece band (The Brite Lites), with whom I’ve been touring on and off the last decade.”
