Jackson Browne and Raúl Rodriguez meet in "Song y Son", a project that embarks on an exciting exchange, a crossing of American sounds and Spanish rhythms. Supported by years of friendship and collaboration, their meeting gives us a new music born on the border of two traditions.

In the first set, Raúl Rodriguez, with his band (Mario Mas on Flamenco guitar, Guillem Aguilar on bass, Pablo Martín Jones on percussion and Alex Tobias on drums), will introduce the songs of "Razón de Son", his first solo album. In the second set, Jackson Browne will play with the band and take his songs into the Flamenco rhythms and "Son" of the Afro Andalusian Caribbean.

Jackson Browne has written and performed some of the most literate and moving songs in popular music and has defined a genre of songwriting charged with honesty, emotion and personal politics. He was honored with induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, and the Songwriter's Hall of Fame in 2007. Jackson's career began in the mid-60s in Los Angeles and Orange County folk clubs. Except for a brief period in NYC in the late 1960s, he has always lived in Southern California. His debut album came out on David Geffen's Asylum Records in 1972. Since then, he has released fourteen studio albums and four collections of live performances. His new studio album, Standing In The Breach, is a collection of ten songs, at turns deeply personal and political, exploring love, hope, and defiance in the face of the advancing uncertainties of modern life. Beyond his music, Browne is known for his advocacy on behalf of the environment, human rights, and arts education. He's a co-founder of the groups Musicians United for Safe Energy (MUSE) andNukefree.org.

Former front-man of Son de la Frontera, Raúl Rodríguez, continues his investigation into the intercultural origin of early flamenco music with his Razón de Son project, expanding the story-frame from the Moorish and Indian origins to the African influence, assimilated since the 17th century through the Andalusian ports of Seville and Cadiz and on to the Latin-American colonies. In Son de la Frontera, Raúl introduced the Cuban tres to flamenco - it was a gift from his mother, the renowned singer Martirio, who had been working with Compay Segundo in Havana - and he's developed a singular style, now named tres flamenco, combining elements of son cubano with toque (flamenco guitar playing styles). Accompanied by accomplished guitar, bass and percussion, his virtuosic tres playing and impassioned singing lead an exciting exploration of flamenco roots.
