A highlight of The Town Hall Educational Outreach Program is the Summer Internship Program which provides high school students with experience in all aspects of the performing arts. The six week Summer Internship Program is a paid school-to-career program that places students from participating high schools in arts organizations throughout New York City. Student interns acquire marketable skills in the interrelated fields of stagecraft and arts administration. These include lighting and set design, stage and house management, research and editing, and financial management. Job and life skills are taught hand in hand, enabling interns to pursue higher education and careers in the arts and beyond.
Past participating arts organizations include:
Annabella Gonzalez Dance Theater
The Drilling Company/Shakespeare in the Parking Lot
Gina Gibney Dance Center
OPERA America, Inc.
The Pearl Theatre Company
The Puerto Rican Traveling Theater Company
Theater for the New City
Martina Arroyo Foundation
Lar Lubovitch Dance Company
Intern candidates will be identified and vetted for our consideration through specific Career Technical Education schools that are involved with the Work Based Learning Office of the New York City Department of Education.
We are continually looking for new partners in all artistic fields: media, architecture, graphic design, music, dance, and theatre. If you are interested in hosting Town Hall interns for our Summer Program in 2019, please email Lauren Noble for more information.
