BOLíVAR INVICTUS / Amore en Libertad - Featuring David Morales and Xin Ying

"My very Lord, my genius, my Simon, my Love. Immense and merciless love. Just for the grace of meeting you, I would give my last breath, to give all of myself to you entirely. To embrace in a kiss...yours and mine... beyond time." - Manuela Sáenz

"You want to see me even with your eyes. I want to see you and adore you and touch you and touch you and feel you and taste you and unite you to me by any means." - Simón Bolívar

David Morales' delivers a follow up to his sold-out Carnegie Hall production of LORCA / Muerto de Amor with the NYC debut of a critically acclaimed flamenco musical, this time inspired by Simon Bolívar's passionate love affair with Manuela Saenz. BOLÍVAR INVICTUS / Amor en Libertad has been performed on stages throughout Spain and Latin America to thousands of dance and music enthusiasts. A collection of love letters between Simón Bolívar and Manuela Sáenz from the epistolary novel Las Más Hermosas Cartas de Amor de Manuela a Simón inspired Morales' vision for this musical, where flamenco, dance, music and song merge with Caribbean rhythms to conjure unbridled passion and artistry at its deepest levels. It is a fitting tribute to an essential chapter in the history of the Americas. Nestor Lacoren of Latin Culture Productions writes, "BOLÍVAR INVICTUS / Amor en Libertad is a Hamilton in the key of Flamenco and Caribbean Rhythms."

Alongside David Morales playing Símon Bolívar and Xin Ying (Principal Dancer with Martha Graham Dance Company) in the role of Manuela Sáenz, the musical features award-winning flamenco guitarists (including Salvador Andrades and Gaspar Rodriguez Roman), flamenco and modern dancers, percussionists, cantaores (flamenco singers, including Mario Robles and Delia Membrive Garcia) and a variety of special guest musicians. Following bravura performances at Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santodomingo in Bogota, Teatro Teresa Carreño and Teatro Municipal de Caracas, Teatro Lara and Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid that have generated praise and excitement worldwide for this work, David "El Bolívar Flamenco" Morales and his company are proud to bring BOLÍVAR INVICTUS / Amor en Libertad to New York City at The Town Hall this November.

This program is supported by The Consulate General of Spain in New York
