This March 14th in New York City at Town Hall, The Feminist Institute presents Bans Off My Body, a benefit concert for Planned Parenthood Greater New York. The concert features Courtney Love and Melissa Auf Der Maur of Hole performing together for the first time in a decade, and rock & roll's royal ringmaster, former Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell joined by Etty Lau Farrell. The concert will open with a set by iconic Indie rock band BETTY, and include other special guests.

Planned Parenthood, although founded in 1916, did not officially become Planned Parenthood until 1942. Since then its mission and resources have often been challenged and fiercely protected - during the fight for Roe vs Wade in the 1970s and again now as state-by-state bans threaten federally protected access to abortion and other reproductive rights.

As an homage to this powerful moment in the reproductive health care movement, this concert pays tribute to feminism's role in our shared culture and celebrates Planned Parenthood. The concert, organized by The Feminist Institute and Hal Willner with Executive Producer Lawrence B. Benenson provides a contemporary context for music as a form of cultural expression and resistance. Proceeds will support Planned Parenthood of Greater New York's mission to provide comprehensive reproductive and complementary health care services in settings which preserve and protect the essential privacy and rights of each individual; and, The Feminist Institute's mission to collect, digitize and share online the rich history of feminist art, humanities, politics and business.
